There was a time when we all were slaves,
Living in the darkest caves.
It was God's wish that he sent an angel,
The man who would save all the people.
Born in a obscure village,
He was destined to bring back India's age.
He stood by truth,
And opposed the untruth,
He fought for equality of Men,
Black or White - all of them.
His Great March for Salt became an household name,
Non-Cooperation, Quit India did the same.
At last the 150 year long fight bore fruit,
When Indian Independence rose from country's roots.
He died as an fighter,
And laid down his life as martyr.
He was an messiah for all,
For he was the man who did it all.
